Fiesta Pack

Taking teen age boys out for fast food is dangerous. It can be expensive. Then there is Eric that sold me on the value of the Fiesta Pack. Six bean burritos and six tacos. Enough to fill the kid up and a carry out box for that snack a couple of hour later.

Boy Activity - Springs

I walked out the back door yesterday and Eric and one of his friends were having some type of improvised weapons match. I could not really tell, they dropped everything when the door opened, except for the five foot piece of 3/4 in galvanized pipe Eric was trying to hide behind his back. I looked […]

Finished Project - 2

I cam put of my room this morning before 7:00 AM and lo and behold, it was Jacob in the house. He came for a surprise visit to work on the how to presentation. We worked on the presentation and went to Home Depot to get the prices of what is needed for his Eagle […]

Finished Project

One project is finished and another two are still in the hopper. On Sunday Jacob soldered all the pigtails together and began testing how many BB,s each electromagnet would pick up. After several attempts to hold onto the magnet and count I offered Jacob a alternative way to do it. He pushed the button and […]

Project Weekend

I received a text message from Jacob on Thursday that he needed to do a Science Project on electromagnets, build a display board on “How to build a rocket” and follow up on his Eagle Project planning. On Friday night we began by making a couple of electromagnets with 16 penny nails and some magnet […]

Taurus vs. Acura

There are time in your life you wish you were in a different spot in the universe. For example, this afternoon, I wish I was not on Main Street stopped in the left lane waiting to turn left. If I was not sitting there thinking of getting a couple of chocolate shakes and a half […]

Jacob turns 14

You know you may be getting old when the baby turns 14. We had a party for him this weekend. After a dinner where he requested home made macaroni and cheese we were in for some activities. Janet wanted to do something different for Jacobs birthday so she purchased a pinata when she was at […]

Geocaching the Trail of Terror - Part II

If I remember right, it seems like most horror films have some continuation to them, so it is with Geocaching the Trail of Terror. This evening as it began to drizzle, I felt that it was timely to grab this cache. As we walked towards this cache, we stopped briefly to see if we could […]

Gunsmithing with a voltmeter

For weeks I have heard, “You need to buy me a new battery.” Eric has wanted a new battery for his M-4 Airsoft gun. He has some friends that have a little group that have airsoft combat. He cannot miss out on the action and he absolutely needs a new battery, at least in his […]

The Spin Monster

Today Jacob and I went to a local attraction that has a couple of miniature golf courses, batting cages, go carts, laze tag and arcade and a few carnival rides. I cannot tel you how many times I have been around that small go cart track in a very small car. Of course, I do […]

Boys and Girls

This past Saturday the two youngest boys, Eric – 17 and Jacob – 14 went to the mall to see a movie with friends. After being at the mall for a few hours they called for a ride because they were ready to come home. A few minutes later they called to say they were […]

Transitional Balls

Today was a day of transition. Eric, my youngest brother and I moved things that belonged to our father who passed away this past year. It was strange. There were also many things that belonged to our grandfather, Cecil Palmer that we moved as well. It was a day of remembering for me. I contemplated […]

Mission Inn - Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights is a yearly occurrence. The street in front of the house fills with cars and all the parking is gobbled up. Throngs of people march to the downtown area around the Mission Inn. The RCC band was playing music this year. There were vendors hawking kettle corn and the likes. We […]

Geocaching the Trail of Terror

Every year for the past several years a geocacher by the name of HaZzMaTt places a trail of caches by the bike trail next to the Santa Ana River. This yearly event is known as the Trail of Terror. Jacob and I try to get out and grab some of the caches via bicycles. We […]

Scott turns 19

Tonight Scott stopped by for his birthday dinner. He turned 19 yesterday. It was nice to see him. He did not receive any bright colored t-shirts. He did get a pair of black work paints so he does not have to wash the one pair he has every night. I guess two pair of black […]
